'Waiting For The Future..And Other Stories'
Jón Ásgeir Hreinsson ( Reykjavík 1957) is a multi-media artist. His work varies from graphic design, photography, poetry and films to the never-ending story of "housekeeping". He is married and has a lot of children, two dogs and a cat.
Waiting for the Future (Beðið eftir framtíð, 2003) is a black & white photographic essay from Aðaldalur, a valley in the north of Iceland, where Hreinsson lived with his family for eight years. His photo-graphs and text capture the atmosphere hidden to outsiders; the stillness of time in the magnificent landscape and the life of the inhabitants struggling to cope with a fast forward future.
"The photographs reflect what I loved and what kept me alive during those strange years in Aðaldalur, but also what I hated, feared and nearly did me in."
